CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Remote Global Internships: For Credit

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to conduct a great interview, how to ask the right questions during it, how to exude (or pretend to exude) confidence, how to create the perfect resume and cover letter.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Not only did I get hands-on internship experience at a business: I also learned how to better my cover letters and resume. Mock Interviews really helped me out too.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

This didn't matter, though, because it was up to me, at home.

* Food:

Same as above.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

N/A

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I think it was a smart choice in the middle of a pandemic. I only wish I had more time to enjoy the global city programs.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I could argue I spent less than I would if I actually traveled.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Nothing.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Save, save, save!

* What could be improved?
  • more times for certain global city programs: They often happened while I was busy
  • More feedback on the interview itself
  • advice on how to nail a job after an internship within same company.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I now know how to set up a proper cover letter and how to manage my time a bit more wisely. I wish I was better at time management during the program.
