CEA Study Abroad in Barcelona Made Me Want to Go Back Forever! Past Review
By Chloe J (Civil Engineering., University of Florida) for
CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Barcelona, Spain
It was so worthwhile. I gained independence and a lot of confidence. I was so happy in Spain and loved the opportunities I had to travel. I absolutely plan to return to Spain and other places in Europe.

| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | The classes were very interesting. The workload wasn't too bad, and I learned a lot. The teachers were so interesting and involved us and got to know us personally. |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | The faculty were young and very helpful. I was able to go to them for anything I needed. They were responsive to emails and other things I needed help with. |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | I lived with 4 other students in my program. The rooms were small, but comfortable. Students from before left a lot of the essentials and decorations. They left books and a blow drier which was very nice to have. I felt very safe there in the neighborhood. Something that would have been nice is if there were other students from the program in the apartment. |
| * Food: | The program didn't supply any food, but the food in Barcelona was great. There were nice, expensive restaurants, but there were also local places that were really great and inexpensive. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | The program provided lots of opportunities for events and gave other opportunities as well. We took a group trip to Valencia, Spain, which was amazing and so much fun. We went to see a flamenco show, on a yacht ride, a bus tour throughout Barcelona, and some other things. I also went to Madrid and Rome on my own during the program which was a lot of fun and great experience. |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
 |
| * Safety: | I felt safe in the city in general. There were certain times areas that were not as safe as others, but as a whole, Barcelona was a great city. I did not have any health problems. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes
 |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
 |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
| If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
 |
| Language acquisition improvement? | Most people in the program spoke English, but my Spanish teacher spoke to us in Spanish. I was able to communicate with locals as well. |
