Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The teacher assigned work that allowed us to explore the city and meet the locals and then present to the class what we learned. It was very structured and we all learned so much about the city. I loved doing the assignments because they were interesting and we were learning the whole time. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
We had a fantastic support system in Dublin. They were helping us the entire way and enjoyed giving us advice! It was great to have them there with us! |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
In each suite, there were 2 bedrooms that had 2 beds, there were 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. It was really easy and comfortable to live there. We had a laundry room down in the basement. And a convenient store right down the road in case we needed anything.

The housing was very safe, because there were security guards at the front gate. It was close to the city so we could walk into the main part really easily. And it was a bus ride away from the school. |
* Food: |
It was really easy to buy our own groceries and make our own food. But it was nice to go out to eat every once in a while to try the traditional Irish food at the restaurants. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
My favorite field trip was to the Aran Islands near Galway, Ireland. Our whole class climbed to the top of the cliffs and were able to stand by the edge to look out to the ocean, it was beautiful. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I felt very safe the whole time. The city didn't seem to have any violence going on and I felt comfortable walking by myself back to my dorm late at night. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | It depends on how often you want to go out to eat or drink and it depends on if you want to travel to other countries for fun. But a general price range I'd say is about $2,000 for spending money, including buying souvenirs. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Try to be frugal when you study abroad so that you have extra money to buy gifts and travel a little bit because you're going to want to! |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | This is a great program for improving presenting skills because we did a lot of presenting and team projects. It's a great class for all majors because you learn social skills and it teaches you to be open to new things. So you can apply that to any future job because you have to be able to adjust to change. |

Comments: | The course challenged us in a positive way. We didn't just go abroad and sit around, we actually were given assignments to explore the city and study the history and culture of Dublin, Ireland. We even took field trips to other cities which was really nice. I loved the class! I would definitely recommend it to other students! |
Credit Transfer Issues: | It takes a long time to get the credits to transfer so make sure you have enough time before you graduate for everything to transfer over. |
