I wish I was still in Ireland! Past Review

CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Dublin, Ireland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was so worthwhile, I thought I wouldn't like being away from home and I thought homesickness would get to me too much. However once I landed I just got so excited to be there and to learn. And when homesickness did come I wasn't alone, I was with 40 other people who felt the same thing. I wish I was still there!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I sprained my ankle in the middle of my trip and it was very easy to get better. The program really helped and they gave me a referral to a local doctor who helped very much! I was impressed with Ireland's health care.

* Safety:

I mean Dublin's a city so you need to use common sense, besides that Dublin is a very safe city.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It really depends on how much you go out, I spent probably around 150-200 euro per week because I went out to clothes shop, food shop, etc.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 150-200
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Don't spent a lot once you land. The euro won't feel like actual money the first few weeks so you'll be happy to spend it. Trust me you will regret this.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • The people
  • The difference between Irish education and American education
  • The support from the program
* What could be improved?
  • I really found no issues with CAPA.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Looking back now I guess I kinda just wish I calmed down a little before I left. Like, I was so stressed with packing and saying goodbye to everyone that I didn't take the time to think about where I was going and the experiences I was about to have. If I could do it all again, I'd just take things slowly and relax a little.
