CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Florence Internship Program
it is incredible. I learned so much about myself and what I want to do with my life. Being apart of the internship program and understanding the italian working culture is something I will keep with me for the rest of my life

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
It depends on the classes you take. I enjoyed all of my classes, so I did not mind the work load. I did not expect how much work I would be doing, so that was kind of a shock at first |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration is incredible here. We all got together and hosted a thanksgiving meal the day before thanksgiving. They also recommended several restaurants and places you must see while you are here. There are incredibly friendly and make you feel at home. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
There was a lot more misquotes that I ever thought there would be. I had to have my mom send me up bug spray because I was covered in them. My apartment was incredible. |
* Food: |
10/10 italian food, carbs and gelato 24/7 |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I made sure to fully immerse myself in the italian culture. I went to places that locals frequently visited and where there were a few americans |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Easy accesible. I had a sinus infection and I got into the doctor and got my meds right away. |
* Safety: |
Just like any city, there are safety issues. I felt overall safe, but I did have friends who had stuff stolen from them. Just be careful and aware of your surroundings. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
4, I managed to stay on my budget and I would fix it if I spent more one week |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 115-300, depended on if I was traveling or not |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | stay honest and true to your budget, but its okay to treat yourself |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
