CEA CAPA Education Abroad: London, England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was the best four months of my life, and I learned so much about myself and what I'm capable of.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were interesting, and not too difficult which was nice.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was usually helpful, but sometimes it was hard to get in touch with them

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Living in Ealing was definitely not what I expected. It took away from my study abroad experience, because we had to spend so much time commuting, and it was not as safe as we were lead to believe.

* Food:

The food was alright, but I found that we were not given enough of a stipend to last us through the week.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I absolutely love London, and felt as though I integrated extremely well into the culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never had urgent health concerns, but whenever I had to call out sick, the program was understanding.

* Safety:

I did not feel safe in Ealing, however I felt safe almost everywhere else in London.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is a very expensive city, so it was hard to live on a student's budget.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $100
