Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

There were three classes that were taken for my major requirement, so there was really no win win with that. But my other three classes that I took during my time in London were amazing. They were the main classes that help get around during my time in London. One of the class ( writing for the city of london) really help me get back into writing again. I had five year writers block and being in that class I gain confidence again to write. Amazing classes that help me a lot.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The front desk in my opinion was more helpful as far as knowing what to do with an certain issue. I never really made it around to the other administrations seeing as though I had no need.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My living arrangements were not that great as far as roommate wise. But the living complex and location was amazing. I really enjoy my time living in Camden Town.

* Food:

Food was okay, but I was not really into the food as much as everyone else.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Oh I love the culture, I still talk to some people from London that I met who were actually from that country. I really miss the art that I would see in certain places, such as the east end.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The overall safety of the city was as the same as mine in Baltimore. Every city has their crime, you just have to always be alert.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

5=very easily, minimal cost. We were provided stipends, so I basically live off of that.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 20 pounds for food, and ten pounds for other.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Purchase a currency card, and put money on that. Always spend what you need to on things you need. And always have cash or change. You will find out that you will never use your card as much. Oh and take out what you will need for a month, not every week.

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

Writing for the city of London.

Course Department: English
Instructor: Kate Norbury
Instruction Language: English
Comments: The class was very challenging for me. I never consider myself a strong writer, and when entering into this class I knew I had to overcome that fear. In this class with the help of the teacher I did just that very thing. I participated in the class during discussions, and random talk about persons writings. Some of my papers were graded in B range, which often shock me, because I never thought my papers could be that good.
Credit Transfer Issues: There was no issue in the credit being transferred back to my home institution.
