CEA CAPA Education Abroad: London, England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I matured and learned so much about other cultures that I would never have been exposed to had I not studied abroad. I discovered a lot about myself and came home the best version of myself that I could be.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Learning through CAPA London was the most beneficial experience I could have asked for. The professors were passionate about their classes and made the syllabus straight forward. I learned far more than I expected and was able to engage in the environment and feel like a part of the culture in London.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was always quick with their responses and on top of sending out information to prepare you for every aspect of the trip abroad.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Living in a flat in London with four other girls was amazing. We learned how to cook for ourselves in another country and it gave us more responsibility encouraging the feeling of living in London.

* Food:

Food is easy to find and easy to grocery shop for. CAPA gives many resources to help you get used to this aspect of living on your own in a foreign country.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I honestly felt like a resident of the city by the time I was leaving. It felt like I was leaving home when I was returning to the United States.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

They do give you insurance cards and review what to do at orientation if you are in need of medical attention.

* Safety:

Safety is the number one topic of importance with CAPA. They make sure they know where you are, especially if you leave the city for another trip. London alone felt safer than any other global city I have visited.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I did not find living on a budget difficult, it is just a matter of keeping yourself on track and planning out the week ahead.
