CEA CAPA Education Abroad: London, England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Deciding to study abroad was definitely out of my comfort zone but I knew I had to take the leap to further my learning and I am very glad I did. I learned a lot about myself and the world around me from my experience abroad. I became more independent, confident, and open-minded. I was able to immerse myself in the British culture as well as several other cultures through traveling on some weekends. I also took a course called Global Workforce Management which was my most challenging class but it ended up being my favorite and most rewarding. We got to work with students at the CAPA center in Florence to merge two companies. I learned a lot about the importance of having a cultural mindset. Studying in London with CAPA opened my eyes to the importance of opening up the world through education. My experience abroad even led me to a career path in global education. I would love to work for CAPA one day and maybe even move back to London :)

CAPA was very hands on throughout the whole application and pre departure process. I received a number of materials that answered all of my questions prior to crossing the pond. I wasn't very close with anyone else from my school who went to London but CAPA helped me find my community through my roommates, classmates, and also through cultural and social events put on throughout the semester. There were a number of walking and boat tours around the city and events such as curry nights and tea and biscuits in the CAPA center every Tuesday. I even got sick while I was in London and the CAPA staff helped me book a doctors appointment right away, they were very helpful.
