Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
All of my professors were very helpful and answered all of my questions no matter what they were about or how simple they might be. I have great relationships with all of them. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration was very understanding and helpful, especially during emergencies like when I lost my phone. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in a flat in Camden Town with 2 roommates and I LOVED it! It was such an amazing and artistic place to live which was perfect for me. |
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I loved getting immersed in English culture, especially art, theatre, and literature. My only regret is not making more long term friends in London outside of the CAPA program |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I had to go to the hospital one weekend because of how sick I was, and everyone there was very understanding of me not knowing how things worked there. |
* Safety: |
I didn't have any real safety issues in London, but my phone was stolen at a concert and CAPA was really great about helping me get a new one. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
CAPA was understanding, helpful, and continue to be helpful to me as an alumni. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
There was obviously a good amount of budgeting involved, and I saved for everything on my own in one summer and took out the loan on my own so it was an even harder time than if I had help from my parents. Definitely do-able though. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | food about $100 including eating out for lunch everyday |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | TV dinners are higher quality in London and much cheaper so it's a great option if you're like me and don't cook well but don't want to spend a lot of money on eating out all the time. I would also split making meals and things with my roommates and we would have "family dinners" together a lot. |
