CEA CAPA Education Abroad: London, England

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I really enjoyed my history class I took where I learned about what makes London a global city because I was able to practice experience learning. Also, I learned a ton from my internship; I liked that it was part-time (only 20 hours a week), which gave me plenty of time for exploring while still gaining experience working abroad. London is full of diversity, and I was experience this by being surrounded by new people and trying amazing ethnic foods from around the world. If you are looking for a worldly experience, London is a great place to get a taste of a little bit from a lot of places.

I went abroad with CAPA on a 6-week summer trip to London, where I had a part-time internship in digital marketing and took two classes - a history class about London as a global city and a professional development class. Overall, I had a great experience! We lived in a nice flat in Camden, which was a great location to get anywhere reasonably by Tube or bus. The CAPA staff was great with offering any support needed, whether it be with finding a good internship or helping you plan a fun weekend trip. They planned some great events, like a trip to Wimbledon and a royal bike tour. London was a great place to be in the summer. There were plenty of great things to do around the city - many of which were cost effective or free! I enjoyed all of the food markets and walking around the beautiful parks on the weekend. Completing an internship abroad was something I wanted to do and am glad I chose to go with CAPA!

Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
