Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The education component of this study abroad was relatively low intensity study, however it was very immersive. Field studies are a distinct part of this program and as a theatre person, they got you inside shows and backstage tours. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration was decent enough. Always looking for ways to expand the student experience and involve people in the program. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Amazing living accomodation. I lived in Camden in an apartment with 3 other girls, only a 3 minute walk from Camden Market and a 2 minute walk from the tube station. |
* Food: |
London is known for having a wide array of international cuisine. After awhile, fish and chips gets old but you always have a lot of backup options. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The academic portion of the program was what immersed you the most in British life, however I found that most of my time was spent with other American students. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Britain has free healthcare for foreigners if you know where to go, and the one time I thought I would need emergency care, my program helped me the entire way through. |
* Safety: |
I had a couple strange run ins here and there, but I've never felt safer in a city. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I want to go back to that time so badly. Amazing city and amazing experiences. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
London is EXPENSIVE. Lesser in food and more in how theres such an abundance of things to do all the time. You are compelled to spend money |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $150 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Make one budget for living expenses and a whole separate budget for travel. A weekend away in another country might put you back $300 and I'd budget around $125 for food for that whole weekend. |
