Living in London Past Review
By M 1 (Finance and Accounting, University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh) for
CEA CAPA Education Abroad: London, England
The experience itself was more than worthwhile. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience where I met some wonderful new friends.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The work load was not an issue at all, but some of the classes (particularly the internship class) seemed like a waste of time. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The girls at the front desk were great, and while I think the advising team was willing to help with most situations they never really seemed to have a good plan of action for any specific concerns. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The housing location was amazing, I never once felt unsafe and we were very close to our classes and a tube station. Unfortunately the housing itself was a bit run-down. |
* Food: |
The stipend was extremely useful and helped force us to budget a bit. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I feel as if there was a good amount of diversity to the programs offered and the staff was trying to accommodate everyone's interests into what was offered through the My Education events. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Good health insurance coverage through HTH, fortunately however I never had to use it. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | As mentioned in other reviews, my time abroad was really invaluable and the opportunity to do an internship made me feel like a "real London-er." Now that I am home in America I am looking for ways to go back! However I would most likely not recommend CAPA as my program provider of choice. In retrospect I wish that I had found a program that integrated us in with other British university students rather than taking classes with all Americans. |
