What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Of course I love Italians! Their language is beautiful. The croissant and cappuccinos are the best in the world! And of course I met the most beautiful, romantic Italian guys that i will know for a lifetime.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were great and very interesting and educational. My only regret is not learning Italian as well as I hoped for. With traveling through out Europe mostly every weekend I really did not put the effort to learn the language.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The strengths were the very well educated instructors. The MAJOR weakness was the really awful computer system. It made it a great burden submitting paper and doing projects.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Besides being very lucky having amazing roomates, I HATED THE LOCATION!. It is on the complete other side of Rome and on some maps not even locatable. I still complain every week about our location. We were 25 minutes walking distance from school which was fine because i loved walking to campus, but it was 20 minutes north of Rome. The location would have been much more convenient to be 25 minutes south from campus. Unfortunately I did not get to explore downtown Rome that much because it is like an hour commute to the city center from my apartment. It was very disappointing.

* Food:

Not that great because the pizza was awful and the only other thing really is pasta which I cannot eat anymore.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

SO wonderful Rome is a beautiful city and I cannot wait to come back and visit. By far the campania trip was my favorite part of Italy!!!! and the wine trip was pretty cool too.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Rome is a very safe city I never was scarred walking alone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced Italian with dating a few Italian men. I did not learn much though only romantic words.

  • The Staff
* What could be improved?
  • location
  • more courses available
  • internet
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Do not do it! Make sure you do research before choosing a program. With the amount of money I spent on this program it was not worth it because the location of my apartment was terrible. Also it had serious computer/internet problems.
