CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Sydney, Australia

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned how to embrace a new culture other than the American culture. I gained experience working in a real estate office in a different country and compare and contrast work life.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The CAPA Sydney staff was absolutely wonderful and so helpful in helping us with anything we needed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The Meriton Apartments were very nice and exceeded my expectations.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I think the internship really helped get me into the local culture because I worked with a lot of different people but then it led to me branching out when I wasn't working.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt very safe in the city and never had any issues.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I spent a great amount of money on personal expenses, food, and trips, but I felt it was worth every penny.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I recommend planning ahead for any purchases. I thought most items were much more expensive in Australia.
