London: Making Another City My Home Past Review
By Alison K (Business Management, Central College) for
Central College Abroad: Study Abroad in London
Most definitely. I learned to be independent and be more open-minded of different cultures. That's something years in a classroom could have never taught me.

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The best educational experience out there. I wish it was a requirement to study abroad and schools were able to make it more affordable for everyone. I loved the ability to study and work but I was still able to have plenty of time for travelling around the UK and Europe. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
It was not free for other Central students studying abroad to stay with us at Vandon House, which was a serious flaw in the administration. Otherwise, they were very helpful in any situation. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Amazing neighborhood - only a couple blocks away from Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, the houses of Parliament, etc. |
* Food: |
Victoria Cafe near Victoria station - inexpensive and pretty decent! |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Fall Break in Italy. We took a wine tour around Tuscany and it was possibly the best 30 Euro I've ever spent! |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I never felt unsafe while abroad - but I was always aware of my surroundings. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
