Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I loved it. We had an integral course for the first month which consisted of two lectures a day, some readings, a test at the end, and a paper. When ordinary term started, we each took two tutorial courses which were one on one with a teacher and met once a week. For each tutorial we did readings and a paper each week. We would read our paper aloud to our tutor: this was the beginning of our discussion. We also took a seminar for which we had weekly readings. At the end of term, we had to write a seminar paper. We also had colloquiums every other week which were basically book discussions on topics we had learned about during integral. It was incredibly stressful but a really great program! |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
It was sometimes a little unorganized. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The dorm building we lived in also had a lecture hall, some classrooms, a kitchen, and a common room. |
* Food: |
English food is rather bland. Keble College dining hall had good accomodation of dietary restrictions. It was sometimes hit or miss taste-wise: sometimes really good, sometimes not so good. Any of the local pubs are great places to eat, especially the Four Candles and the Eagle and Child. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I wish I could have met more locals. However, our tour guide for the field trips was wonderful! We visited many cathedrals and castles. We loved the carnivals in Oxford too. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It was a normal college city. We did hear of a few instances of violence but for the most part we felt very safe as long as we were careful. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
