Gain specialized experience in one of Greece’s most advanced Otolaryngology (ENT) clinics, recognized as the leading Cochlear Implant Center in the country. This program offers pre-med, medical, and health sciences students an immersive experience in ENT specialties through clinical observation, research involvement, and exposure to innovative surgical procedures.
Program Overview
Interns will shadow otolaryngology professionals across a wide range of specialized ENT clinics under the supervision of experienced physicians. The program offers a comprehensive understanding of diagnostic methods, treatment approaches, and surgical procedures, with a focus on cochlear implants and advanced ENT subfields.
Interns will rotate through various clinics, including but not limited to:
- Cochlear Implant Clinic: Pre- and post-operative care, speech therapy, and psychological support for cochlear implant patients.
- Rhinology Clinic for Smell and Taste Disorders: Diagnostic and functional assessments using cutting-edge tests like Sniffin sticks, rhinomanometry, and nasal nitric oxide (NO) testing.
- Salivary Endoscopy Clinic: Endoscopic examination, stone removal, and gland treatment.
- Sleep Apnea and Snoring Clinic: Assessment, endoscopic examination, and counseling for snoring and sleep apnea, including innovative treatments such as hypoglossal nerve neurostimulator implantation.
- Hearing and Balance Clinic: Diagnostic evaluations of hearing and balance disorders, including audiometry, tympanometry, and video-nystagmography.
- Neonatal Hearing Screening: Early diagnosis and treatment of hearing issues in newborns using advanced otoacoustic emission testing.
- Swallowing Disorders Clinic: Endoscopic evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders.
Interns may also observe complex surgical procedures such as cochlear implants, endoscopic sinus surgery, tympanoplasty, laryngectomies, thyroidectomies, and tracheostomies. This exposure helps participants understand both routine and advanced ENT practices in a professional healthcare environment.
