An internship that gave me great opportunities October 01, 2025
By A student (Physiotherapy, Sewanee: The University of the South) - abroad from 07/01/2022 to 07/24/2022 with
Cerca Abroad: Greece - Physical Therapy Internships in Greece
It was truly rewarding! I managed to see how different medical practices were in Greece compared to the U.S , especially observing surgeries and clinical work. I was also surprised by how well I could balance this experience with exploring Athens and discovering its rich culture.

Hi, my name is Jackson Deneka and I’m from Tennessee in the US, and I also attend University at Tennessee and I am doing this internship a the Metropolitan Hospital and I’ve really enjoyed my time. It’s given me great opportunities to witness different specialties including surgeries and clinical practice. It’s given me a great opportunity to really decide which health career I want to pursue as a profession. I chose Athens as a chance to travel abroad, get to meet new people and have a great experience to see what different cultures are like. In terms of medical practices, this internship has given us a lot of opportunity, go out on the weekends, see Athens and enjoy all of the rich history that Athens has to provide. This internship has done a great job of helping me mix balance both between getting shadowing experience and also getting a rich cultural experience. So, I would recommend this to anyone that’s interested in this type of opportunity. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
