About
Interning at the Arcturos Environmental Center is a life-changing opportunity to work with wild animals in Greece and assist with the mission to protect and restore the biodiversity of Greece. ARCTUROS focuses on the conservation of large carnivores, such as brown bears and wolves, as well as the conservation and management of mountainous ecosystems in Greece and in the Balkans and in addition, breed and donate Hellenic shepherd dogs to stock-breeders in an attempt to help them deal with damages that may be caused by wild carnivores. There are currently 14 research projects/internships that international students can chose from: Animal Husbandry, Wolf/Brown Bear/Lynx Behaviour, Field Research (wetlands surveys, activity patterns, population dynamics, nesting, species diversity/density etc) and to participate in public awareness campaigns. Our team consists of experts and veterinarians actively involved in wildlife conservation efforts “in situ” and “ex situ”. All staff are bilingual and some of which have completed their veterinary training abroad, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise. Our Wildlife Research internship program offers volunteers of any background the opportunity to gain top quality experience interning on the Arcturos Environmental Center. With valuable experience, you’ll develop your skills and understanding of different conservation aspects. Culinary: The participants will work side by side the Head Chef, the food preparation team and the restaurant manager to gain a holistic experience. The internship timetable is expected to be full time with shift work (ie early starts, late finishes or weekend work), reflecting standard industry hours, up to 40 hours per week. Interns should be flexible and to also communicate any shift related prefrences. The team is made-up by well experienced professionals that have worked in the tourism industry for years and around the world, eliminating any language barriers and offering international expertise. Our tourism & hospitality internship program offers pre-tourism & graduates students the opportunity to gain top quality experience interning on one of the largest hotel complex in Greece. With valuable experience, you’ll develop your skills and understanding of different hospitality aspects.
