Great Summer in Shanghai Past Review
By Megan M (International Relations And Global Studies, Chinese, The University of Texas at Austin) - abroad from 06/13/2012 to 08/13/2012 with
CET Shanghai
I gained/strengthened a lot of social skills while I was abroad. Being in a country with a completely different official language (you can't understand the people, the roadsigns, the menus) forced me to adapt and learn so much. I didn't realize it until the program was over and I was back in the United States. It was definitely worthwhile. I had some of the best food I've ever had, and made of some of the greatest friends. Cheesy, but true.

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Super convenient dorm, docked two stars for the CRAZY amount of construction that went on all day for the last half of the program. |
| * Food: |
It's not the worst cafeteria food. It's very cheap, and very convenient. Once you figure out what you like, it's really not so bad. |

I never really felt like I was in particularly unsafe places. There are always tons of people around, and if you're careful you will be fine. |

Yes
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
