About

Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world, larger than the continental United States. With forests that cover more than 65% of its territory, Brazil is home to the world’s largest tropical rainforest – the Amazon – which possesses rare plants used for modern medicine. Find out what it is like to live as a Brazilian teenager while living with a host family and attending a local public high school. No previous Portuguese language ability is required and a 10 hour Portuguese course is included upon arrival.

Program Details:

  • 10, 5, or 3 month program starts in either January or July

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 19

  • No prior Portuguese language required

  • Intensive 10 hour Portuguese language course upon arrival

  • School year starts in February

  • Placed with volunteer host family

Application Deadlines: 11/1 for January, 5/15 for July
