Past Review

CGEE: Windhoek - Nation-Building, Globalization, and Decolonizing the Mind
This was the best experience of my entire life. I learned more about international development in one semester than I did in 3 years of college. The program is well-organized and Namibians are wonderful people. I wish I was still there.
Personal Information
| The term and year this program took place: | Spring 2009 |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | I love the experiential learning. It was far more effective than other ways of teaching. |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | The site is very well run and Urbanus is very protective and knowledgeable. |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | We lived in a 20 person house most of the time, but did 3 homestays. |
| * Food: | Food made for us in the house was yummy and we got to try lots of interesting new foods. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | Everywhere we went and pretty much everything we saw was amazing and not like anything you've ever seen before! |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
 |
| * Safety: | I felt relatively safe but I am also accustomed to the dangers of living in a city with regular muggings. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes
 |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
 |
Language
| Language acquisition improvement? | Language was not a focus of this program. But we did get to learn a bit of a click language that is fun to know. |
Other Program Information
| * Where did you live? Select all that apply |
 |
| * Who did you live with? Select all that apply |
 |
A Look Back
| * What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Anyone could benefit from this program. But those who are open and accepting of new experiences and a bit of a different lifestyle will enjoy it most. |
