China Study Abroad Reflections: Comprehensive Reviews of Past Programs
It was very worthwhile. I learned a lot about the country and about how to get around in a place where I don't speak the language.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The workload in China was a little tough but doable. I had American instructors, so I didn't have to deal with educational system differences. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The instructors knew what they were doing. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
Eggplant, green beans, and rice was my favorite meal. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Visiting most of the sites on our own was overwhelming at first, but I think it was better than seeing them all as a group would have been. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Everywhere seemed very safe. There were no incidents. I got flu and hepatitis A shots before leaving the US. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
