YES DEFINITELY. It was my first study abroad experience and I am so happy I had this opportunity. I would definitely recommend the program to another student.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I felt that the work load was very similar to the load I would have had at my home university. My professors were great and I enjoyed their lectures. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The only weakness would be that I would have liked to have had the option of a class that taught local students and the american students combined. I felt like we were too sheltered in some instances. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
MY HOST FAMILY WAS PHENOMENAL! I was nervous at first, obviously the idea of living with strangers is a bit scary but they made me feel at home very fast. |
* Food: |
Food is GREAT! That is probably the first thing I will miss! 'Shawerma' is my favorite on Rainbow Street and Hashems in downtown amman has the BEST Falafel and its so CHEAP. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
Language acquisition improvement? |
I had to use the host language (ARABIC) in everyday circumstances which pushed me to improve more so then if I were studying the language at my home university. I lived with a host family which also helped tremendously. |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Come into it with a fresh and open mind. Get out of your comfort zone, get out and meet people. Everyone is friendly and always willing to help. And even if your not strong in the language just try, everyone appreciates someone that tries no matter how badly you pronounce it.
