Europe in a Four Months Past Review
By Alex Cook (Middlebury College) - abroad from 08/20/2018 to 12/22/2018 with
CIEE: Amsterdam - Social Sciences + Humanities
I learned so much about Europe and other cultures, which I find very valuable. I also learned how to cook for myself and really live on my own. It was definitely worthwhile.

My dorm was outside of the city center, but was not advertised as such. Also, there were no common areas, so it was hard to get to know other students. |

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
If I were to do it all over again, I would probably choose a smaller and more intensive program. I had a lot of fun and learned a lot of valuable information and life lessons in Amsterdam, but about halfway through I really began to miss interesting coursework and my close group of friends at Middlebury. There are definitely other programs that are more rigorous and foster a smaller community. |

Comments: | This class was awesome. If you do CIEE Amsterdam, take Beginning Dutch with Bonny as one of your 4 or 5 classes. You will get a good Dutch foundation and the exams were easy and fairly graded (the latter which is a blessing in Europe). And Bonny is AWESOME and knows so much about Amsterdam. This is a must-take. |
