Absolutely amazing! Past Review

By (Brandeis University) - abroad from 01/24/2019 to 05/31/2019 with

CIEE: Barcelona - Advanced Liberal Arts

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was definitely worthwhile to go abroad. I was able to become more fluent in spanish, as well as gain confidence when speaking it. I was pushed outside my comfort zone by having to study at a spanish university where I had to take difficult classes in the local language. I also gained a lot of "inside" knowledge about a different place and culture that isn't always prominently shown.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $50 for food a week, if it was lunch. Dinner would raise the price.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you want to eat out, usually try to see if there are times during the day where food is cheaper. Also take into consideration anything that could happen while budgeting, especially with phone plans, etc.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language
