What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot from Ghanaian locals about current events and political/economic issues that Ghana is facing. I also learned the same thing from African francophones. I do think it was worthwhile since I talked to people from all over the world while being in my dorm.

I liked the courses that I took abroad, but they weren’t as challenging as courses at Wellesley.

Studying abroad in Ghana made me realize that I should’ve studied abroad in Senegal since it’s a French-speaking country. My parents are Haitian so I’ve been exposed to a similar culture.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $15
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I would say to only spend money on necessities in the beginning of the study abroad program and then when you have money leftover toward the end of the program, then you can buy gifts.

  • The chill environment in class
  • Visiting Cape Coast and the Ashanti region with CIEE

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I knew how spicy food was going to be and how much free time I would have.
