Overall Experience
My experience abroad led to a career in International Studies and a deep passion for Study Abroad. I am now the Study Abroad Coordinator for my home institution and know that my career path was directly influenced by how incredible my experience was in Ghana. - Texas Christian University View Entire Review

My study abroad experience was very trying and difficult. The basic human needs, food, water, etc were few and far between. I'm glad I had that experience however maybe not for so long. - Tulane University View Entire Review

It was one of the best times of my life. I learned so much about Ghanaian culture and how so many different things influence their lives in comparison with mine. I also learned a lot about different education systems and what I feel works better for me. I also learned about my capacity for stepping outside my comfort zone and re... - Providence College View Entire Review

The program was amazing. I have never experienced a completely different culture before and it truly was an educational experience. I loved going to Ghana, it was the right choice for me but may not be for everyone. Going to Ghana made me learn to slow down and even though it was crazy and frustrating at times, it taught me more about myself than I ever expected. - Tulane University View Entire Review

About

Are you on the hunt for a study abroad destination relevant to your degree and capable of enriching your worldview? Look no further than Ghana, one of the wealthiest pan-African countries in West Africa!

Immerse yourself in one of Ghana's central suburbs, Legon, where you'll quickly adapt to Ghanaian life. Ranked the seventh best university in Africa, you'll take classes alongside local and international students at the University of Ghana in courses like humanities, basic and applied sciences, education, health sciences, biology, dance, economics, history, music, political science, public health, sociology, and more. During your program, you can enroll in a full course load or combine your courses with CIEE electives like internships, directed independent research, and more.

All your courses are complemented with co-curricular activities and excursions organized by CIEE beyond the classroom to enhance your intercultural understanding. From a trip to the Ashanti Region – one of the most significant cultural hubs of the country – to a tour of Cape Coast – a historic city that helped shape the continent – you will have various opportunities to participate in hands-on activities that connect you to local Ghanaian communities.
