Learned how to plan trips without as up to date or accurate maps and routes, how to be a more international citizen, how to communicate through a language barrier, and how to cook, travel, and survive on my own. Rohan N - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I got to learn about a wonderful, very different culture. It was definitely worth it. Everyone should go to Africa :) Paige P - Trinity University View Entire Review
Expanded my cultural horizons, opened my eyes to many different ways of living and values. Made unforgettable connections. Had an amazing time, more than worth it. A student - Fordham University View Entire Review

I learned and experienced a few new things about the culture, history, and politics there, however most of the study abroad was a waste. Except for the CIEE led trips, I feel I did not learn much about the culture because everything we did was with the other American students and the classes were useless. About
Spend your summer studying and living in one of Ghana's most important suburbs, Legon, where lush forests, diverse animals, and miles of sandy beaches are all within reach. When class is in session, you will learn from CIEE faculty at the University of Ghana, CIEE's partner school, and the country's oldest and largest public university. Classes will provide opportunities for you to practice speaking Twi – a dialect of the Akan language – and focus on the impact of enslaved Africans.
Outside the classroom, you will be invited to participate in immersive, primarily hands-on, activities and excursions organized by CIEE to enhance your cultural understanding. From exploring the country's vibrant cultural heritage to witnessing its stable democracy and impressive politics firsthand, you will come to appreciate how Ghana has evolved since its habitation in 10,000 BCE.
