Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I enjoyed all but one professor. Classes presented with me with information that I was unfamiliar with. Professors generally adjusted to student needs very well.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

One administrator was not very involved with us and left a month early for an outside internship, the volunteer program that they coordinated was unsuccessful. Another administrator was very difficult to get a straight answer out of for big and small issues. The third administrator was very involved, professional, and able to answer all my questions.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was located outside of Rabat. There was a carpool for the students who lived in Temara and we would get dropped off and picked up after school everyday. I felt like my independence was limited more than students who lived in the city and had easy access to public transportation. I felt that it was more difficult to leave the house and enter the neighborhood than it was to navigate the city.

* Food:

My host mother cooked for me. She adjusted to my dietary needs.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The Darija semester course was cancelled. It would have been very useful in my feeling integrated with the local culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I only had a light cold and did not need to access any healthcare systems.

* Safety:

Don't travel alone at night as woman.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? ~150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Budget for your lunches and weekend trips.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Intermediate MSA
How many hours per day did you use the language?

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
