See for yourself how one event can reshape an entire country’s economy in a city getting ready to take the world’s stage on CIEE’s Business, Economics, and Culture program. Improve your Portuguese by leaps and bounds, take a variety of courses from econometrics to marketing at a local university, and get to know the culture by living with a local family and going on tours of local businesses.

Study abroad in Rio de Janeiro and you'll:
- Study with a local institute with respected academic departments of business administration that have strong ties to the marketing and business sectors and centers of economic policy
- Live in a vibrant city and business center that’s home to Brazil’s telecommunications giant, Globo, as well as the headquarters of other major Brazilian and international companies
- Visit various points of interest around the city and country, and volunteer throughout the greater Rio area

Federal Pell Grant-eligible students can receive a GAIN Travel Grant up to $1,000 when they complete their CIEE Scholarships and Grants application by our published deadlines. Gilman Scholarship applicants can receive a CIEE Go Global Grant AND a GAIN Travel Grant totally up to $4,000!

CIEE offers substantial grants for students who choose our innovative Open Campus Block program. Available at 13 CIEE Global Institutes around the globe, Open Campus invites students across majors to study in up to three international locations in one semester.

To increase access to study abroad by more students from Minority Serving Institutions (MSI), CIEE will cover 100% of program fees and travel costs for 10 students from 10 different MSIs to participate in an intensive 4-week, 3-credit summer study abroad program. To become a Frederick Douglass Global Fellow, students must be nominated and receive letters of recommendation.
