Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

So much easier than my local university classes, despite the fact that they were all in Spanish. There is generally just a midterm and final, but easy to makes As.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The onsite administration was great. My advisors were so helpful and very responsive to all of the students' needs. They were definitely very knowledgeable about both CIEE and Sevilla. The program was definitely very big, but the business and society section made it a little smaller. My expectations were exceeded.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We had a party at the end of the year for our program specifically, which was a lot of fun. We also had plenty of opportunities to go on excursions every week with our program to get to know the city better.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt so safe walking around the city, even at night. I was never sick so I have no knowledge about the healthcare system.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I spent most of my money on traveling I did with friends outside of the program.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Upper division Spanish courses
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

You could practice with your host families, fellow classmates, and program advisors. You definitely needed to know Spanish to navigate the city.

Comments: The class was pretty easy compared to business courses at UT. The professor was nice, but I don't feel like I really learned anything in the class. We did take one field trip to a coffee manufacturing business in Sevilla, and that was pretty interesting.

Culinary Habits and Diet in the Mediterranean of Ancient Times

Course Department:
Instructor:
Instruction Language: Spanish
Comments: I took this course hoping that we would actually cook in the class, and that is not the case. It is more of an anthropology course if anything. I did not like the professors, and I thought this class was extremely boring. Attendance was not mandatory for this class though, and it turned out to be pretty easy.
Credit Transfer Issues: No issues with credit transfer
