What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was definitely worthwhile. In such a unique time and manner to be able to learn to much and really live in another culture feels great. Being able to walk to class and talk to whoever I wanted in another language was a great feeling!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I really liked two of my teachers that really wanted to share their culture with the American students and really loved their job. There was a lot of interesting course material in my other two classes but having a deacher that wasn't excited about teaching made it hard.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was in Triana (across the river from the center of Sevilla) with a widowed woman.

I was far from the city and most other students. Also the program didn't tell us who lived close by which would have been nice since I was so far away. The neighborhood was nice, all working class with a lot of pride. The senora was AMAZING and so sweet. I had my own bathroom but I didn't have internet. Her older daughters who are married came by a lot and they were very nice too!

* Food:

She was very attentative to what I didn't want to eat and made great food! She also would make sandwhiches for me when I went away. Local bars and tapas places were all good too though.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The over night to Granada was GREAT! The farewell party was fantastic too!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? The pay as you go phones DO get expensive so BE CAREFUL!

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

The best thing to do is to live in a homestay. I learned the most and practiced the most from my "senora" and her daughters.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Comments: It was a LOT of work and you were expected to read a HUGE textbook in Spanish. His lectures would put people to sleep and he was very difficult to get a hold of out of class.
