What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, it was certainly worthwhile. My spanish improved greatly, and I had the opportunity to travel so much. I do now know when I will ever (or if I will ever be able) to live in another country for such an extended period of time. So I'm so glad that I went and stayed for 6 months...and hopefully, I'll be able to go to Sevilla again sometime in the future.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I believe that the program was slightly disorganized. While we did go on certain trips (which were amazing), I thought that the program could have done a better job of suggesting classes to its students, and maybe providing more group acitivities.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived only with a señora. However her children (two daughters and a son) lived nearby with their families and would stop by often. And as I stated earlier, we became very close. In fact, we still keep in touch.

* Food:

My señora was an excellent chef! Such variety!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Loved it...I traveled, shopped, spoke Spanish constantly, and explored Sevilla (historical sites as well as the night life). Also, I made many friends abroad who I've kept in touch.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe in Sevilla in general. And luckily, there were no problems with my health so I did not have to focus on student health issues.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? TOO MUCH! Honestly, I cannot remember an exact amoount.

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I believe that living with a host family greatly attributed to improvement in the Spanish language. My host mother and sisters introduced me to many other Sevillanos, would take me out, taught me how to cook Sevillan cuisine, etc. After a while, speaking Spanish became so natural as I felt that I became a part of the family.
