CISabroad (Center for International Studies): Summer in London - University of Roehampton

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I grew so much as a person. Living and traveling on my own gave me time to figure out who I am and what I want in life.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Courses were interactive, informative, and eyeopening.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Roehampton's study abroad team were wonderful and friendly!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had my own bedroom, and CISabroad provided a kitchenware set and bed set.

* Food:

I did not participate in a meal plan, I grocery shopped and cooked for myself.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

CISabroad gave me the information I needed to navigate the city with ease.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I have always loved traveling, and just needed something to get me started. Living in London for three months definitely gave me the confidence to start traveling more. CISabroad provided me with support and tools to achieve my goals and have a great time!

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

CISabroad does not provide a budget. My parents and I worked out $2000 for me to use for groceries, transportation, site seeing etc. I am very good at budgeting and setting a standard for myself, so this was plenty of money.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 100 great British pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Set a weekly budget and stick to it. There are tons of free museums and events in London. I suggest using TimeOut.com
