Study Abroad at Roehampton: A Life-Changing Experience! Past Review

By (Kinesiology and Exercise Science., Colby-Sawyer College) for

CISabroad (Center for International Studies): London - The London Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It is very hard to explain to people how incredible my experience was. You really just have to experience it. The best thing is to go with a completely open mind and integrate into their culture and stay open to new experiences. Because of my time there, I am going to try to do my graduate work back in England.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent at least 100 pounds per week, however I only had class on Monday and Tuesday, so I had a lot of time to go out.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? There really weren't any expenses that I did not anticipate. Public transportation was a little more that I had anticipated, however I found that while in the city it was very easy to walk wherever I needed to go. The best advice about spending is to make a weekly budget and then actually follow it.
