Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The overall educational experience was different than EIU's because all of the lectures I attended were either pre-recorded or recorded during each lecture. As far as tutorials go, it was more interactive with the course work I learned during the week which is more of what EIU courses are like. Also, it was a bit difficult figuring out the grading scale and what the teachers were looking for in assignments and papers.

On-site administration of your program

Macquarie University had a great administration program and was helpful when I had questions about the university itself or other topics.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing situation was great because I lived in a big space with many international and local students. Everyone was very nice and welcoming and I met plenty of new people.

The food was pretty good in Australia. It was different enough where I knew I was not in the U.S. but in a new country where I had unlimited options to choose from.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I learned about some of the local culture which was fascinating and new. I wish I did meet more people from Australia while I was abroad but since it is so huge and many different people lived there it made it harder.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

In the very beginning I learned about health issues and where I could access a hospital or clinic if necessary. Luckily, I did not have any health issues but I was walking distance from a pharmacy and a couple minute drive from the university hospital.

Australia is a very safe country and I did not feel as if I was in danger at all during my time abroad. Everyone that I met was nice and friendly and did not feel uneasy.

CISabroad had wonderful program directors during my time abroad and we had a pre-orientation excursion the weekend before I attended my university for the semesters where I was able to meet other students who were in the same program as me and a few who attended the same school as me for the semester. We learned a little bit about the country beforehand and learned about one another. The program directors were always there to answer any questions we had during our time abroad and met with us every once in awhile to check up on us and hear about our experiences.
