Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The course work at my home university is definitely more challenging than my abroad institution was. However, this does not mean that it lacked substance, and I often found myself walking from class taking just as much in thought as I would from a home unversity class. Being abroad is strongly based on experience outside the classroom. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
lots of resources available to students, very honed on american way of learning. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in a Danish Folkehojeskole, a place where youths live together and share living duties (cooking, cleaning, etc). It promoted global education and 'learning to live'. |
* Food: |
The food in my living situation was great. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The most amazing trip of my life was organized by DIS, my field study excursion to Greenland to visit the ice sheets. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Very safe country, I never felt in danger. Medical care at local doctors was always available as well. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | MY living situation provided a larger part of the daily living expenses, I had to pay for any personal outings on the weekends, as well as doing laundry. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Transit passes are very expensive to replace. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
