What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying in Denmark was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have become a more confidence and independent individual. I made great friends that I know I will keep in touch with. I also gained an appreciation for different cultures.

The classes themselves are not that difficult but there is a lot of busy work in most classes.

I lived in a kollegium and I absolutely loved it. Living with other Danish students is a really great experience.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? around $40 a week. We also had a food stipened that helped with some of the cost of groceries
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? make sure that you use your money wisely. Although it may be a pain you should definitely make your lunch and bring it to school with you. Food around DIS can be expensive. Also look for student discounts and if you are not sure make sure to ask.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Most Danish people will speak English to you even when you attempt to speak Danish. Just keep trying to speak Danish.

  • i wish the semester was longer
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that I knew that Danish people are extremely nice once you begin to talk to them. They may seem as if they are uninterested in you but that is just a cultural difference. Once you branch out and say hello and start to talk to them they will not stop talking.
