Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Architecture courses, especially the studio ones were very good. Other courses were weak. |
* Host Country Program Administration

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived in Grudtvigs Hojskole- a traditional Danish school in which students live and learn for short amounts of time after Gymnasium.

I didn't attend class there, but lived in a single room there and attended breakfasts and dinners with Danish (and international) students. The living arrangement was a great in that it also included a variety of social activities such as weekend theme parties. The downside of the living situation was the hour + commute. |
* Food: |
I wasn't given a food stipend as meals were provided to me, but I rarely got the meals due to the long commute in combination with my more intense academic program. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
there is a lot to do in Copenhagen! Its a safe, but fun city. |
* Health Care:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Denmark is expensive, with black coffee costing 5-6 USD. I spent roughly $600/month, but I did very little shopping. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | take how much money you expect to spend and multiply it by 2. |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Bring $$$$$. But seriously, I strongly recommend the program to any architecture/design students. The program is very strong, well organized, and staffed by incredibly talented faculty. I learned a lot through the studio course I took. |
