Tusind tak Kobenhavn (thousand thanks Copenhagen) Past Review
By A student (PSYCHOLOGY., Trinity University) - abroad from 01/21/2012 to 05/18/2012 with
DIS Copenhagen: Semester
I loved being abroad. I learned how to plan my own travel trips, navigate, figure out what I really wanted to see. I was able to go to 9 countries, including Russia and Iceland, and travel with some friends that I still keep in touch with

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The program required you to go to classes every day and participate in field studies in and around Copenhagen. The classes were often taught by professionals, not always professors so they were not hard in comparison to Trinity. There were usually more assignments as opposed to reading and because of the how the semester was scheduled many things would be due around the same time. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
I lived with a host family and ate many traditional Danish meals. They eat a lot of potatoes and pork. Being a vegetarian is more difficult with a host family |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Because it was such a big program most Americans hung out and made friends with the other Americans. The Danes associated with the program or activities in Copenhagen were used to American students coming and going every few months. I learned a lot about the culture but I did not feel particularly immersed in it because most of the time I was around other study abroad students |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Denmark has free health care and if you get sick you just have to call the doctor's number on the back of your insurance card. |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
* Was housing included in your program cost? | Yes |
* Was food included in your program cost? | Yes |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 20-50 depending |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |

Individual Course Reviews
Course Name/Rating: |
Positive psychology |
Course Department: | core course |
Instructor: | |
Instruction Language: | english |
Comments: | The core course was not very good. The class talked about the same things over and over again and the instructor seemed to be less well read on other areas of psychology beyond positive psychology. If you are more interested in clinical and psychopathology, I would recommend taking the other psychology core course |
