What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I would do it again in a second...I wish I were there for an entire year

Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Spring 2009

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

everything always ran smoothly

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

oresunds kollegium

* Food:

mostly cooked

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

they did a great job helping you meet people and making sure you were always comfortable.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

It is one of the safest countries in the world...extremely low crime rate...and the tap water is cleaner than the bottled water.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I budgeted about $400 a month for these expenses. It is an expensive country, but it's well worth and it is possible to live cheaply.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? cook alot and get a bike. Use your transport stipend on a bike

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

I didn't take danish so I didn't get to learn the language too well, plus danish is an incredibly hard language to learn.

Other Program Information

* Who did you take classes with?

Select all that apply

  • Americans

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Don't be shy, the Danes may seem conservative but will go out of there way to help you every time if you just ask for help. Also, don't be afraid to speak English, everyone understands.
