The Life in Copenhagen Past Review
By Alexis H (Education, Saint Michael's College) - abroad from 08/15/2015 to 12/13/2015 with
DIS Copenhagen: Semester
I learned a lot about myself as well the rest of the world and how different it is than America. It was very worthwhile. I realized that I am able to do things on my own and that I am an independent person. I learned many life skills that I took with me home. I also learned a lot in my classes.

|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|

How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
It was very easily accessible during the summer. With my insurance card I was able to go to the doctors when I needed. They were very helpful. |
* Safety: |

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I spent about $150 a week on food and personal expenses per week and it would be very easy to spend a lot more if I did not budget my spendings before I went abroad. Know how much you have to spend before you go abroad. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | about $150/week not including plane tickets |

Even if you don't speak it often, it is a reassuring feeling knowing that you can speak it when you need to and the members of the community will be happy that you attempt to speak it. Keep in mind that most people know English. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
