Good for Traveling Europe Past Review
By Logan Wright (Middlebury College) - abroad from 08/18/2017 to 12/10/2017 with
DIS Copenhagen: Semester
The main take away was that I got to experience living on my own in Europe which was not easy at all and that I got to travel all over Europe.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Probably one of the most academically rigorous abroad programs. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
Food is just really expensive in Copenhagen. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
You don't get an amazing cultural immersion if you live in an RA and overall the Danish aren't the easiest to meet. I would recommend living with a host family or doing a visiting family (which I did and loved) to get cultural immersion. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
N/A |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Very expensive but its on you. If you are frugal, go to Netto, and cook all your meals it is definitely affordable. Also if you live with a host family you wont have to spend much unless you want to eat out. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
|
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Beginner |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | N/A |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | 0 |

Comments: | Hardest course at DIS, but still completely manageable if you take it seriously. The professor wasn't very good at lecturing or conveying information and standards were always unclear, but the subject itself was incredibly interesting. |
