The best, but least culturally integrated, abroad program around Past Review

By (Middlebury College) - abroad from 08/18/2017 to 12/12/2017 with

DIS Copenhagen: Semester

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was incredibly worthwhile, I grew tremendously as a student and a person

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes were a good amount of work - enough that you learned but not overwhelming. Teachers were excellent, helpful, and curricula were engaging

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Administration was incredibly helpful/ accessible at any time

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Very satisfied. Apartment was spacious, clean, close to the city, and my roommates were enjoyable to live with

* Food:

I cooked for myself

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Not very integrated, that's my biggest critique. It's basically a giant American bubble within Copenhagen

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

None needed

* Safety:

The safest it could be

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

This is a yes and a no. This is the best program for pre-meds hands down, so I would do it again because of that; however, the lack of cultural components was very disappointing

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It took adjusting to but I managed on about 70 dollars per week

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 70 dollars
