The administrators at DIS were very well-informed and usually very willing to help. A lot of the staff we dealt with were former DIS students interning after their senior year so they were able to relate to us really well. |

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Denmark is very expensive. Food and alcohol are more expensive than in the United States and elsewhere in Europe because everything there is heavily taxed. If you lived out of the city-center you got a stipend for a travel pass which means you didn't have to pay for public transportation, but late at night when the buses run with less frequency you might be stuck taking a cab and that could cost around $20-$25 dollars for a 10 minute cab ride. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Copenhagen is not a very challenging city to get accustomed to. It's small, accessible and everyone speaks English. At the same time it has a very distinctive culture, Danes are amazing, and Copenhagen is regarded as one of the most fun and interesting cities in Europe. Copenhagen is great for all types of students, students who want the challenge of being thrust into a new culture at full speed, or students who need to ease into it. If you are one of the people who needs more time to get used to a place, I'd suggest living with other American students. Even if, initially, you don't want to branch out, you will by the end because you will feel like you belong there. |
