Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Classes were good and it was nice to have professors who were from Europe but they were not extremely challenging. Some professors had different expectations than American Universities but it was fairly easy to get used to these explanations. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I absolutely loved my host family. I lived in Birkerod and got along so well with my family. The town was adorable and perfect for me. I still keep in contact with my host family and miss them lots!

I LOVED my host family. The town was perfect for me, quaint but with the stores and outdoor activities and areas (parks, sports fields, gym, etc) needed. It was about a 20 minute train ride into classes which was short compared to most host families. The night bus was slightly confusing and I never took it, but instead chose to stay with friends closer to the city if I went out on the weekends. |
* Food: |
My host family cooked great meals that were similar to American meals but different enough that I felt like I was getting cultural meals. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Went on weekend and week-long trips with class, traveled often and went to some of the events DIS provided. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
Language acquisition improvement? |
My host family spoke good English and I was not required to take Danish by my school and therefore I only picked up what Danish my host family taught me, which was plenty for me. |
