What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?

I learned about Danish culture and the everyday lives of the locals. Courses were super interesting and I learned a lot despite the lack of rigor. I would go back for another semester if I could.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.	Everything was wonderful, from the study tours to the professors. Lost a star because the classes are super easy.
* Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program	Don't really seem around, but I bet they're there.
* Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?	Very very dirty. Terrible laundry facilities. 30 people shared 2 washers and dryers that were basically broken. All my clothes got ruined.
* Food:	Very expensive food, stipend doesn't cover the absurd cost of living in Copenhagen. No dining hall options.
* Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture?	I had the chance to play for a local Danish hockey team and spend every second outside of the classroom with Danes.
* Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program?	Not super accessible. Long waits to see a doctor.
* Safety:	Anyone could walk into our housing building, but the door locked. School buildings were secure.
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program?	Yes Excellent classes and study tours. Loses points for terrible housing.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)	Not easy at all. Copenhagen can be more expensive than Manhattan. Coffee and a croissant can run you $10.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants?	DO NOT EAT OUT, Budget your travel from the start, you don't need that coffee in the morning, bring lunch

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants?	Meet with local Danes. My Danish got good only because I was playing with a Danish hockey team

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.	The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
