Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
There is no meal plan, only a food stipend. So food quality depends on how comfortable you are with cooking for yourself or if you like your host family's cooking ;) |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
i felt very integrated with the local culture. It helped a lot that one of my flatmates was a local Danish student and she introduced me and my other American roommate to her Danish friends. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Healthcare is free and easy to access even without knowing Danish. |
* Safety: |
Safest city I've ever been in. Even as a young asian woman, I felt safe. I never felt the need to look over my shoulder. I would travel home late at night from the city without a worry. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Copenhagen prices are very expensive. It is possible to make the food stipend last the entire semester ($30 grocery per week), as long as you only buy basics and don't splurge. I did spend my own money though at asian grocery stores (not covered by the food stipend card). For transportation, I would recommend getting the commuter card from DIS and then, if you want, renting a bike on your own because in the long run the bike will be cheaper. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Nearly Native or Trail BlazerCraving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.' |
